7+ years experience of coaching translators
In 2012, I was headhunted to work with a new translation concept. A leading global tech company was creating a base of linguists of their own, in 14 countries.
When I started on this project, I was already an experienced Translator with a lot in my portfolio:
Managing VisitSweden.com for the Spanish market.
Monitoring European environmental legislations for Intertek.
Translation of a textbook for WWF.
Writing 4+ country sheets for WeEffect, in three languages.
Writing the City of Solna´s winning application to host UEFA Women´s Football Championships 2013.
During my seven years with this tech company, I had several positions and learned many invaluable skills:
Validator I reviewed and improved vendors´ translations. I checked accuracy, grammar, style, terminology, and consistency. I created more flow and adapted the content for the Swedish market.
Lead Linguist/Online Meeting Manager My focus was to raise the overall quality. I hosted weekly video meetings with the translators/validators, where we went through the recent translations. We discussed everything from the client´s tone of voice and customer journey. Long before Covid-19 introduced us all to Teams and Zoom, I was creating onboarding and online meeting manuals.
In my view, my most important task was to listen and acknowledge each team member, simply because that is what makes us humans feel good and perform better.
We are what we repeatedly do.Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit. - Aristotle -
